Where is the first Thornblade in Aniimo?

The earliest Thornblade you can reach is not a roaming spawn. It sits half-buried in the ground next to a chest in the Sea of Flowers, with three Budsquires standing around it. The LDShop location guide describes the encounter the same way: the creature is partially in the terrain beside the chest, so it reads as scenery until you are close enough for the interaction prompt to fire.

The official index lists the Sea of Flowers as Thornblade’s habitat, which matches every community route. Thornblade is Aniilog No. 034, a Nova stage Grass DPS, and its line starts at Budsquire (No. 033) — the numbering makes the relationship unambiguous.

The chest framing matters for route planning. Rather than sweeping the whole region looking for a monster, work the region’s chest circuit and clear the Budsquires on the way. Its trait is what makes that work. Sword Dance grants one stack every time you use a skill, up to four stacks lasting 15 seconds, and each basic attack spends a stack to deal 180% extra damage.

Game8’s spawn notes place it during rainy or stormy weather in the Sea of Flowers, near the entrance of the small structure attached to the ruined tower in the middle of the region — northwest of the Alpha Irisal boss arena. Only one can exist at a time, and once it is defeated or captured the spawn does not come back for that window, so a knocked-out Thunderstorm Thornblade is a lost one rather than a respawn.

Guide routes for it converge on the same approach: check the weather tab before traveling, wait for rain or a storm, look for the blue Aniimo head icon on the Sea of Flowers map, then approach through the purple flora instead of the open path so you arrive before it notices you. Search results for Shining Thornblade are a mess because the term is community shorthand rather than an official creature name. Three separate things get called “shining”, and only one of them is what the egg actually does.

So if you want the cosmetic rare, the Shining egg is not the tool. In combat, Thornblade is a melee DPS built on counter timing and critical rate. Thorny Defense puts it in a defensive stance that cuts incoming damage by 20%, counters when it is attacked, and grants 30% critical rate for 15 seconds if it is hit at the moment the skill is used. Thorny Impact thrusts in and adds 15% critical rate for 15 seconds on hit. Thorny Rain hits up to three times in a row for a cheap 10 EP. The kit rewards reading an enemy attack and answering it rather than trading hits.

That playstyle is why Thornblade keeps appearing on DPS shortlists without topping them. Mobalytics’ tier list describes it as a clean combo DPS that rewards precise counter timing and crit scaling, and a three-way comparison of the custom egg options singles it out for its dash-in, dash-out tempo and its two defensive stances, with the Lightning-type coverage as a bonus. The reviewer still calls all three egg options close in raw stats and picks Thornblade on feel rather than on a numbers gap.

If you are choosing between the free egg options, the same comparison argues that Scorchhowl is the weakest pick because it evolves from Emberpup, the first creature most players catch, and is therefore the easiest of the three to farm normally. It is included here for completeness, not as a verified pin: the region-level guides checked for this page describe the encounter by landmark — the chest with three Budsquires — instead of by coordinates, and no second independent source confirmed that pair during this pass.

Treat it as a starting point. Load the coordinate, look for the chest and the three Budsquires, and if the terrain does not match, fall back to the chest circuit. Do not spend an evening walking a number that may be stale after a patch. The game’s own data records two Thornblade spawn areas in the Sea of Flowers, which are regions rather than exact pins, so even the underlying spawn table is coarse.

Which Thornblade hunting mistakes waste the most time?

• Hunting the weather form under a clear sky. Thunderstorm Thornblade only exists during rain or a storm, and it does not respawn once it is gone.
• Knocking out the chest Thornblade instead of catching it. The chest encounter is a fixed spawn. A careless area attack turns a guaranteed catch into a walk back.
• Assuming “shining” means Sparkling. The Shining egg is a Perfect Potential reward. The cosmetic mutation is a different system.
• Building Thornblade as a pure damage race. Its damage comes from spending Sword Dance stacks through basic attacks after skills, and its survivability comes from counter stances. Playing it like a burst caster loses both.
